African American Experiences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater

Drs. Ross Benbow and Ozalle Toms and two African American undergraduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (UWW) are investigating the influence of social and cultural factors on the career preparation experiences of UWW students. The study will use semi-structured qualitative interviews with African American students to better understand their college experiences not only as they move through this small southern-Wisconsin PWI into the workforce, but also as they navigate the educational and social upheaval associated with Covid-19, including their indefinite campus closure, the wholesale switch to home-based online education, and social distancing from friends, classmates, and faculty/staff mentors.
