Forming Science Identity in Personal Networks: A Mixed Methods Study of Social Support for Latine STEM Students

Although Latine college students plan to enter STEM fields at rates that are the same or higher than their peers from other racial and ethnic groups, they remain underrepresented in the STEM workforce. This session presents preliminary results from a mixed methods (i.e. survey and interview) study conducted in partnership with the University of Texas System Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (UT LSAMP) to examine how students’ Community Cultural Wealth impacted their STEM attainment and commitment.
