Experiential Offerings to Promote Career Exploration & Skill Building
10:00 AM – 10:50 AM • 50 Minute Runtime • Room 226
The Economics Career Development Office at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has created several experiential programs to promote the career exploration and/or skill building for undergraduate students. The academic major of economics is heavily theory based and many students don’t know how what they are learning applies to future careers (or even what the possibilities are). Through this session, participants will learn about these various experiential programs which allow our undergraduate students to learn, practice, and/or apply skills to grow in their career exploration and development. Participants will learn more about how we structure and manage these programs, including the job shadow program, case competitions, summer professional development program and career/leadership development program. If you are curious about building a program of your own and/or lessons learned from implementing these experiential, career development programs, join this session!
