Supporting Students with Generative AI in Career Services
3:10 PM – 4:00 PM • 50 Minute Runtime • Room 205
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a crucial component of college students’ career readiness for the workforce. A working group at UW-Madison has developed an interactive toolkit with best practices for using generative AI in students’ career devleopment journeys. This session will cover the creation process of the AI Career Toolkit, the principles behind it, the significance of generative AI for career readiness, and how to guide students in effective and critical prompt engineering. Participants learn how to identify best practices in implementing a similar program at their institution; explain why generative AI and prompt engineering are important for students’ future careers/the workforce; and apply generative AI prompt engineering practices to their own work with students.
