Trevor D. McCray

Position title: Research Associate, University of Wisconsin - Madison, CCWT

Trevor D. McCray is a Research Associate working alongside the Networks and Cultural Assets Project Team within the Division of Continuing Studies. With a background in Criminal Justice, Higher Education, Trevor earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington Department of K-16 Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Trevor comes to the team with six-plus years of experience as a student affairs practitioner, primarily centered around career development and as a newly minted doctor in education. 

Additionally, Trevor has participated in the following: 2022 Selected Participant Revolutionizing Research for Social Change Workshop- A Summer Institute in Anti-Racist and Decolonizing Research, 2022 Selected as a Maverick Advantage Grad, 2022 SERA Dean’s Award for Exceptional Student Research, 2021-2022 The University of Texas at Austin Project MALES Recipient, 2020-2021 The Thomas Moorman Fellow; Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA) Fellowship.

His interest lies in deconstructing, disrupting, and decolonizing qualitative research within educational research surrounding participants of color. He grounds his research in culturally based frameworks that allow affinity groups’ voices to be acknowledged and liberated by intentionally recentering their narratives.
