Lisa Mann

Position title: Director, Career Center, University of North Carolina at Asheville - CCWT Affiliate

Lisa completed her Ed.D. in educational leadership at Western Carolina University, researching the impact of internships on social and cultural capital. Lisa’s goal is to make school to career transitions approachable and practical, while encouraging students to dream big and go farther than they think possible. Lisa is continuing her research into graduate employability capitals and prefers to use both qualitative and quantitative assessment. Lisa has served on the board of the North Carolina Association of Colleges and Employers (NCACE), the Cooperative Education and Internships Association (CEIA), led webinars and wrote for the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Under her leadership the Career Center at UNC Asheville has almost doubled in size, added new services including Career Treks and a Career Closet, and increased usage threefold. The UNC Asheville Career Center and its staff continue to win awards from the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers (SoACE), NACE, and NCACE. Lisa has volunteered with the Southern Association of Colleges of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to support reaccreditation efforts and served as guest editor for two special editions of the Journal of Student Affairs Inquiry, Improvement and Impact focused on assessment in collegiate career education.
